Baltic Sea NGO

Baltic Sea NGO Network is a network of 500 non-profit organisations in the Baltic Sea Region. The network includes organisations from 11 countries; Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Russia and Sweden.

Since 2001, non-profit organisations in the Baltic Sea Region are cooperating in the framework of the annual Baltic Sea NGO Forum. Two years later the Baltic Sea NGO Network was founded with the aim to organize an Annual Forum. Baltic Sea NGO Network does not seek to represent all sectors and actors of civil society in the region, but the network is open to all democratic organisations that share the network’s values and who want to strengthen and develop civil society in the region.

In addition to organising an Annual Forum the Baltic Sea NGO Network is taking part in the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR). They are so-called Horizontal Action Leaders (HAL) of the Horizontal Action Involve (HA Involve), promoting and facilitating multi-level governance within the EUSBSR. This includes involving local and regional authorities, industry, academia and civil society in implementing the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region. The Norden Association is the national focal point for the Baltic Sea NGO Network in Sweden.
